The Literature Prize Foundation Privacy Statement

We, the Literature Prize Foundation (the operating name of the charity that administers the The Writers’ Prize, Mentorships, Sessions, and related events and initiatives) are committed to maintaining the trust, confidence, and privacy of visitors to our website and to the security of the data we collect. Under the Data Protection Act and new General Data Protection Regulation, we have a legal duty to protect any personal information we collect from you.

The Literature Prize Foundation will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information, which includes following procedures that aim to ensure all staff members and trusted volunteers who have access to any personal data (including paper-based and computer records) held by or on behalf of Literature Prize Foundation are fully aware of and abide by their duties and responsibilities under the Act and GDPR.

Literature Prize Foundation collects and uses personal data about donors, participants, partners and supporters. The Literature Prize Foundation collects personal data – which may include your name, email address, postal address and date of birth – when you actively register, online or in print, to receive our e-newsletters, when you communicate via email or in writing with an employee of the charity for reasons pertaining to the work of the charity, or when you make a donation to the charity. The Literature Prize Foundation may process your personal data by storing it online and/or in print, and storing IP addresses on our web server logs. In practice, you will usually either expressly agree in advance to our use of your personal data for marketing purposes (‘marketing’, in this instance, means our communication with you regarding the charity’s news, events, initiatives, and updates), or we will provide you with clear opportunities to opt-out of the use of your personal data for marketing purposes.

Sharing Your Information

The Literature Prize Foundation will not and does not share, sell, rent or trade your information to any third parties unless you have given us explicit permission to do so.

Financial information

In order to process financial transactions made directly to Literature Prize Foundation through our donation forms, we will ask you for your bank or credit card details. When you are using our secure online donation page, you are going through to a partner company, currently limited to PayPal, and the information you give such as your credit card number and contact information is provided to them so that the transaction can take place. In these instances, we do not receive or retain your Credit or Debit Card details.
